I was an athlete in college so I’ve had a few S&C coaches, but Patrick’s knowledge of anatomy is something else. He points out the little technical things most trainers miss, and got me adding forty pounds to my squat in just five months. I started crossfit to get in shape aesthetically, and on top of that I now feel so much healthier and have a much better awareness of my body. Above all, it’s been such a blast, and I would rank crossfit among the best decisions of my adult life!

I was initially hesitant to even try CrossFit because of all of the stereotypes I had heard, and thankfully GrassRoots CrossFit has been the exact opposite of what I had feared. The coaches are kind and supportive, the community encourages you to go at your own pace and do your personal best, and they are focused on your longterm health and success, not burning you out in every workout. I’ve been coming back for three years, and GRCF has transformed who I am and what I’m capable of achieving. If you’re on the fence, try it out - I truly believe you’ll find a welcoming home here.

Coming to Grassroots has been such a fun aspect of my life since moving to Berkeley. It has given me strength to complete a fire academy, provided me with wonderful friends, and the coaches are indisputably amazing at what they do for us. Sometimes you can pet dogs at the gym too :)
